– El aumento en el consumo de sustancias ilícitas también ha provocado un alza en los casos registrados en Oaxaca, señala Laura Solís del Centro Estatal de Salud Mental.
La responsable del Centro Estatal de Salud Mental de los Servicios de Salud de Oaxaca (SSO), Ana Laura Solís Martínez, informó que en el estado se registran un promedio de 218 suicidios cada año; 18 personas en promedio cada mes que deciden quitarse la vida.
Entre 2018 y 2020, periodo en el que se prolongó la pandemia del Covid-19, dijo, hubo un incremento de 53 por ciento en los casos de muerte por suicidio, y a partir de 2022, empieza a haber una reducción.
México, agregó ocupa el segundo lugar en el mundo como el país con más suicidios. En el mundo, afirmó que cada año se suicidan 800 mil personas, y por cada una persona que muere por suicidio, hay otras 20 que los están intentado.
El aumento de estos casos durante la pandemia, de acuerdo con la especialista, probablemente ocurrió a la incertidumbre que provocó el encierro, la pérdida de trabajos y la pérdida de familiares a casa de esta nueva enfermedad.
Datos del Centro de Salud Estatal de los SSO detallan que en 2018 se suicidaron 140 personas en Oaxaca, 111 hombres y 29 mujeres; en 2019 fueron 166, de los cuales 136 eran hombres y 30 mujeres; en 2020 creció a 214 muertes, 180 hombres y 34 mujeres; en 2021, fueron 189 suicidios, 153 hombres y 36 mujeres; y en 2022, 166 muertes por suicidio, 133 hombres y 33 mujeres. En 2023, la cifra nuevamente se disparó a 228, 187 hombres y 41 mujeres.
Los métodos más utilizados para cometer suicidio en Oaxaca son el ahorcamiento en un 75 por ciento de los casos, 15% por disparo de arma de fuego, 7% por envenenamiento, y 3% por otros métodos.
Laura Solís explicó que en los casos de suicidios de niños, niñas y adolescentes, se han encontrado como principales causas el bullying o el fracaso escolar, en los jóvenes tiene que ver con la falta de oportunidades, problemas sentimentales, vivir alguna situación de violencia y el consumo de sustancias ilícitas que incrementa significativamente el riesgo de suicidio.
En adultos, continuó, se encuentran como principales causas las presiones económicas y la pérdida de la pareja y en el caso de adultos mayores, la desesperanza, el sentirse un estorbo, el que no tienen oportunidad. “Cuál es la verbalización de un adulto mayor: ya no sirvo para nada, es que ya no quiero estorbar, es que cuando yo no esté ustedes van a estar mejor, entonces también se dan suicidios a este rango de edad”.
En Oaxaca, el caso del suicidio de un niño está en la edad de 11 años; mientras que, en el país, caso de un menor de edad más pequeño registrado es de seis años de edad, quien estaba consciente de que se estaba quitando la vida.
La especialista explicó que la razón por la cual se suicidan más hombres que mujeres, es que los primeros utilizan medios más letales como el ahorcamiento, el disparo de un arma de fuego o el uso de armas blancas; en tanto que las mujeres utilizan métodos más pasivos como el ahogamiento, tomar pastillas o cortarse las venas, y eso permite que haya más oportunidad de que llegue la gente a interrumpirlas para evitar que mueran.
El Centro Comunitario de Salud Mental y Adicciones ubicado en Trinidad de Viguera, agencia municipal de la ciudad de Oaxaca, realizaron una actividad hoy en el centro de la capital del estado con motivo del Día Internacional de Prevención del Suicidio, que se conmemora cada 10 de septiembre.
“Hacemos este tipo de acciones para que la gente se entere que hay otra posibilidad, que pueden pedir ayuda y que no sea un tema tabú para las personas”, agregó Laura Solís.
